Criminal Border 1st Offence, a drama visual novel by Purple Software, has been released on Steam, Kagura Games, Johren, and JAST USA.

Criminal Border 1st Offence follows the story of Ninomae Itsuki, a shut-in otaku. Being of a shy disposition in light of his unsuccessful social life, he spends most of his days sitting in front of his PC, splicing anime music videos called "MADs" for internet clout. In a flash of inspiration, he decides to create a MAD using scenes from a hentai anime. Thanks to the remarkable editing skills he developed, the video ends up being incredibly stimulating, even earning recognition as an electronic drug.

Seeing that those who watch the video lose control of their lust, Itsuki decides to play it for a childhood friend, Rin, as revenge for the mistreatment he suffered at her hands. While the video works on her, it also leads Itsuki to uncover a dangerous truth: Rin reveals her connection to criminal groups. She’s been organizing small, illicit operations with other girls from school. She’s also responsible for a Papakatsu scheme, setting girls up for fake dates with older men for a premium. Now that she's seen Itsuki’s creation, she’s gotten much more ambitious ideas—and to realize them, she'll need Itsuki to cooperate with her.

Throughout the first story of the Criminal Border series, Itsuki and Rin begin their new scheme with the electronic drug by gaining support from Rin’s associates and planning out their strategy. In the meanwhile, Itsuki meets Hina, a friend of Rin dating men as part of their Papakatsu scam, with the two of them growing closer together.

Itsuki Ninomae spends his time creating tacky fan videos that require no particular skill to make. One day, through a combination of coincidences, he accidentally creates a “digital hypnotism movie,” which has the power to send anyone who watches it into a trance.

A malicious urge possesses Itsuki.

Itsuki succeeds in showing his video to Rin Akinashi, a girl he has known since his childhood. However, he also learns the secret hidden behind the straight-A student’s mask.

Rin puts forward a proposal: “A lucrative business using digital hypnotism.”

Wading into murky legal waters, Itsuki finds himself being swept away into an underworld that should have had nothing to do with him...

Criminal Border 1st Offence is now available on Steam, Kagura Games and Johren for the promotional price of $11.99 until November 20th, at which point it will cost $14.99. The game is also available at full price on JAST USA. Additionally, adult content for the Steam version will need to be installed separately using a free DLC.
