All Idleness and Ephemera, a gay retelling of All Ashes and Illusions by ebi-hime, is now available for purchase on Steam.
All Idleness and Ephemera is a gay love drama following a prince named Yuel, as he seeks love and understanding in the arms of his cousin, Tavi. Yuel grew up in neglect. While having his needs met thanks to his status as a prince, he experienced few emotional bonds throughout his life. His mother paid no attention to him and passed early on in his life, while his father, King Khalil, shunned him.
When Yuel’s only friend, his nursemaid Safiya, leaves him once he’s too old to receive her servitude, he breaks down. In his state of need, he seeks comfort from his cousin Tavi. The young man ends up finding more than just emotional support, as his cousin offers him his love.
Much of the premise of All Idleness and Ephemera follows that of All Ashes and Illusions, as players are connected with its protagonist, Yuel; however, instead of seeking out Safiya’s love, Yuel instead forges a deep connection with Tavi, providing for a new, emotional story.
All Idleness and Ephemera features a linear, 50,000-word-long story, providing an estimated two to four hours of reading material. While both protagonists have dealt with heavy trauma, this story route is much more wholesome in tone, with purely consensual erotic encounters.
“Hey, cuz! It’s good to see you again! It really has been too long!”
Yuel was only six years old when his mother died: put to death in a grisly public spectacle for her uncovered infidelity by her own husband, King Khalil.
Yuel has carried the weight of his mother’s death around him for many years, and is no stranger to feelings of abandonment. Largely ignored by his mother, even during her life, and shunned by his powerful, megalomaniacal father, Yuel grows up bereft, lonely, and unhappy.
Yuel’s only ally, as a young boy, is his kindly nursemaid, Safiya – but even she leaves him, once Yuel matures, and becomes a young man.
Now, shortly after his eighteenth birthday, Yuel comes to a crossroads in his life. Driven to madness by his own misery, he turns to his older cousin, Tavi for comfort – but he finds much more than he originally bargained for.
Yuel’s relationship with Tavi, in this spin-off of Ashes, takes on a significantly more sensual turn, as Yuel slowly learns how to overcome his sorrows in Tavi’s arms; and learns, too, how good it can feel to make somebody else feel good.
All Idleness and Ephemera is now available for PC and Linux on Steam for $8.99.
