A half-blind girl tries to survive on her own in town filled with bandits in Sharktales.’s hopeless., an RPG published by WASABI Entertainment on Steam.
The story of hopeless. is about the daily life of Lucyin her darkest hour. The poor girl was born with bad eyesight, finding herself unable to make out shapes in poorly lit environments. She relied on her parents to lead a decent life, until one day when her father didn’t return from the mines. Buried underground, he’s now gone, and Lucy has to find a way to support herself.
In the past, Lucy’s village was quiet and unremarkable; however, since miners found gold in the mountain, various untrustworthy types have been flocking to the town hoping to get rich quick. Surrounded by thugs, she now has to find a new benefactor to help her navigate the world.
The game focuses entirely on exploration, with no dedicated combat system. Players explore the town as Lucy, seeking people who’ll agree to grant her bed and shelter. As might be expected, few in town would grant such mercy without seeking something in return. Though she might be often exploited, for now, Lucy’s only goal is to survive another day.
