An otaku discovers his favorite idol group is a band of magical girls in Whirlpool’s Animal Trail ☆ Girlish Square, now available on Steam and Denpasoft.
Animal Trail ☆ Girlish Square is a kinetic visual novel, centered around idols and magical creatures. The protagonist, Nakamori Taiga, is an otaku that works at a curry shop in Akiba. He is obsessed with Animal Trail ☆ Girlish Square, an indie idol group that's recently been gained traction. Many of their fans — including Taiga — want to support them so that they can perform in Japan’s most famous arena, the Budokan.
One night, while Taiga was on his way home, he saw the members of Animal Trail ☆ Girlish Square practicing. He spied on them and was shocked to see the girls transform, with strange magical creatures appearing out of thin air. At that moment, he realized that their stage outfits are actually magical girl costumes that they can transform into. When the group catches Taiga peeping, the magical creatures chase him down. The creatures reveal that they've come from another world currently in trouble and will need energy from humans if they hope to save their world. To assist them in gathering human energy, the creatures are helping these girls achieve their goal of becoming idols. Since Animal Trail ☆ Girlish Square isn’t a well-known idol group, Taiga offers to help as their new manager and producer.
