Battle your way through the robot arena in Peach Palette’s Sexaroid Assembly, a sci-fi RPG now available on DLsite.
Sexaroid Assembly takes place in the year 3017, when society has become largely automated due to rapid improvements in robotics technology. In most first-world countries, semi-sentient robots take care of the most mundane tasks and act as companions to their masters. The game’s protagonist, Taro, has always dreamed of creating his own robot, but not just any old machine: a robot that could learn and feel.
Creating robots that can feel is a contentious topic, with many fearing that if machines were to become emotional, they’ll also become prone to harming humans and waging wars. These fears, though, have done little to stop Taro. Using a cheap sexaroid meant for bedroom fun as the foundation, he has created a battle-ready machine with emotional potential. Named Sofa, the android initially appears tame and quiet, but should gradually become more human-like as she learns from her experiences. To help facilitate this growth, Taro registers her to the robot arena, signing her up as a combatant.
For the majority of the game, the player controls either Taro or Sofa as they attempt to climb the ranks of the arena. Sofa's growth is largely portrayed as her level increasing through victories in the game’s turn-based combat sequences; however, unlike in most RPGs, the heroine won’t see much improvement in her stats from simply leveling. Instead, the player has to either purchase new parts or scavenge materials from the gang-ridden slums to create upgrades for her.
As the story advances, Taro will grow closer to both Sofa and his helpful childhood friend, May, becoming intimate with both of them. Sexaroid Assembly also features scenes of abuse, taking place when Sophia loses in combat.
Sexaroid Assembly is now available on DLsite for the promotional price of $9.10 (estimated from ¥1,001) until October 16th, at which point it will cost $13.00 (estimated from ¥1,430). A demo of the game can also be downloaded from the store page.
