The fairy tale you don't know is a puzzle game about an enchanted book containing well-known stories; however, said stories change to satisfy the desires of their reader, and in the case of the protagonist, the stories twist into becoming more perverse.

The player can pick from four fairy tales: Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, and Thumbelina. Each fairy tale is divided into multiple chapters, featuring key events and iconic characters from the original stories. Every chapter leads to a puzzle chase scene and culminates in an explicit event.

During the puzzle segments of The fairy tale you don't know, the player controls the pursuer, who changes depending on the story and its chapter. It may be the antagonist, such as the wolf, or the story’s protagonist, such as Alice, while she’s chasing the rabbit. The player’s task is to trap or slow down the target by interacting with the environment in such a way that it will allow them to catch up to them. The puzzles are purely strategic in nature, as the person being pursued only moves when the player takes a step themselves.

Each stage can be solved in multiple ways, but the player can also choose to simply omit the puzzle after losing. Adult scenes that follow the puzzle segments usually portray the rape of the heroine at the hands of various people, monsters, or animals.
