Pre-orders have opened for the Western release of the jet ski racing series, Kandagawa Jet Girls, courtesy of XSEED Games.

Kandagawa Jet Girls launched last year as a twelve-episode anime series, directed by Hiraku Kaneko and produced by Egg Firm, airing from October 2019 to January 2020. In about a week following the anime’s finale, Marvelous has released a game adaptation in Japan, which translates both the series’ unique take on Jet Ski racing as well as its story into an interactive medium. XSEED Games, a publishing brand of Marvelous USA, has now announced an upcoming Western release, scheduled for August 25th.

The world of Kandagawa Jet Girls is obsessed with the sport of jet ski racing, in which up to four teams of two players race against each other. Every pair is composed of a JETTER, whose job is to control the jet ski and race to the goal, as well as a SHOOTER, whose task is to disrupt the other contenders by shooting them and their jet skis with water guns.

The game includes a story mode, free racing, multiplayer, and minigames. The story mode features campaigns for all seven teams, containing narrative dialogue in-between and during the races. Players can select and customize their characters and jet skis before the race with a variety of swimsuits and mechanical parts, available as in-game unlocks. This new release of Kandagawa Jet Girls will feature bonus characters from the Senran Kagura series, including a team composed of Ryouna and Ryoubi, which will be available to everyone. Future DLC will include Ikaruga and Yomi, Homura and Hikage, and Murasaki and Mirai.

Kandagawa Jet Girls will launch on the PlayStation Store for the PlayStation 4 within Europe and Australia on the 25th of August 2020, as well as on Steam with global availability. The base version of the game will cost $49.99, and a deluxe edition will be priced at $59.99. The DLC pass for Senran Kagura characters will be priced at $29.99.

Contents of the deluxe edition will vary depending on the platform, with PS4 players being offered access to the game’s soundtrack, a unique theme, and a set of fourteen avatars. The Steam digital deluxe edition will include the game, the soundtrack, and two outfits: the maid bikini and the bunny costume. The outfits will also be sold separately for $2.99 each.

A special Kandagawa Jet Girls - Day 1 "Racing Hearts" Edition can be pre-ordered on XSEED Games store and other participating retailers not listed in the original announcement. Priced at $59.99, this edition comes with a PS4 copy of the game, a two-disc OST containing fifty-four tracks, and a sixty-page long artbook in a custom box.
