An independent developer is single-handedly working on Memoirs of a Battle Brothel, a story-driven cyberpunk tactical RPG.
Memory of Eternity has recently released the public demo of his latest game, Memoirs of a Battle Brothel, to Steam. The game is set in the cyberpunk city-state of MoonFall, where various crime syndicates constantly vie for power. As the player, you take the role of a newly appointed Facilitator of the courtesan guild. Rather than to train and manage the courtesans, your job as the facilitator is to take care of the building, the staff that manages it, and handling guild business beyond providing sexual services.
As it quickly becomes apparent, the courtesan guild is the mediator between the multitude of organizations within MoonFall’s underworld, and their main strength comes from dealing with and having connections to most players in the city’s internal politics. To maintain those relations you will need to regularly lend help to various organizations and resolve their issues, either peacefully or forcefully, depending on your personal preferences and abilities.
The current version of Memoirs of a Battle Brothel features four classes and a vast selection of backgrounds, both of which will affect your interactions with the others. You can explore the district you’ll be working in, meet the girls, have an intimate relationship with one of them, and solve one major quest. Plans for the full game include four separate major storylines alongside a variety of sidequests, the ability to customize and manage the brothel, character subclasses with their own skill trees, and 20 hours of projected content.
You can download the public demo of Memoirs of a Battle Brothel from Steam or Itch.io. If you’d like to support the developer, you can do so on their Patreon. A pledge of $1 will let you influence the game’s developed by voting in polls, while a $5 subscription will let you access future demos early. Further tiers give additional bonuses, such as being included in the credits, or gaining access to Memory of Eternity’s previous products.
