When Akiba Souken asked about the progress of Senran Kagura 7EVEN, Takaki explained that the game will take more time to produce because of the new regulations regarding sexual depiction. Big thanks to Gematsu for the translated quote.
Recently, worldwide regulations regarding sexual depiction have been getting stronger, and in that respect, we have to make games in a way that they aren’t misunderstood. Certain things are harder than they’ve ever been before. Given that, I think [the game] is going to take some time… We want to make it happen, so right now we’re at a place where we’re thinking about how to do that, and various other things overall.
This reply may be referring to Sony Interactive Entertainment’s new regulations that have affected multiple games with ecchi themes and content. These regulations also affected Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal, resulting in Intimacy Mode, which allowed the player to get intimate with the girls by touching them in different ways, being removed from the Western release of the game.
