Adult game developer Hiqo Soft has filed for bankruptcy, but still plans to release Sakura Sakura and Yotsunoha in English.
Hiqo Soft, adult game developer since 2004, has filed for bankruptcy on September 21st. Debuting with Sukumizu Police, an eroge involving police in swimsuits, quirky characters, and doe-eyed lolis, Hiqo Soft has released multiple titles, with Sakura Sakura and Yotsunoha being planned to be the first of Hiqo Soft’s visual novels to receive an official English release.
Sakura Sakura depicts a love triangle between Inaba Tooru and two girls named Sakura: Nanako Sakura and Sakura Kirishima. Yotsunoha is about a group of friends who come together after three years to dig up a time capsule at their old school. The story focuses on the bonds between five friends and how much has changed after three years.
Despite the bankruptcy, the localization progress and release of Sakura Sakura and Yotsunoha will not be affected. Sol Press, the publisher responsible for those two games, has stated that Yotsunoha and Sakura Sakura will be released on Steam with two versions: an all ages version and an 18+ version. Currently, there are no set release dates for these visual novels, but you can follow the progress of their localization on Sol Press’ blog.
