Famous H-game studio ILLUSION's virtual reality dating sim, VR Kanojo, is now out on Steam, albeit in a censored version with the sex cut out.

VR Kanojo was designed by ILLUSION (Artificial Academy, Rapelay, Play Club, etc.) to be an ultra-immersive dating experience, where you meet your next door neighbor, the cute high schooler Sakura. You befriend her, woo her, then finally bed her. From the game page:

In VR Kanojo, you can hang out with the lovely girl-next-door, Sakura Yuuhi. You'll practically feel her breath on your cheek and the warmth of her fingers on your arm as you laugh and talk the day away.

Better yet, VR controllers simulate your hands in-game, letting you interact with her more directly. Just imagine all the possibilities! Oh yeah!

And you can customize Sakura's appearance with a variety of different outfits too. Sound like fun? You bet it is!

Of course, as you might suspect from the pointed declaration that "this is the Steam version," VR Kanojo suffers the fate of so many other Japanese games on Steam (including pretty much nearly every VN on sale you can think of), which is to say that the sexual content has been severely tamped down and censored.

The core of the game, the VR experience of dating, kissing, and falling in love with a cute schoolgirl, still exists, but due to Steam's restrictions on the sale of explicit material, the sex has been cut out. This in turn rather changes the feel of the game, turning VR Kanojo from an immersive build-up to explicit sex into something of an ILLUSION version of Summer Lesson.

Still, if you're familiar with buying adult Japanese games on Steam, you'll also be aware that decensoring patches are a thing, and are often forthcoming soon after release. We don't have any information on that front yet, but you can be certain we'll keep you posted the second you can get Sakura to spread her legs in the Steam version.

For the moment, VR Kanojo is selling at a release price of $49.99. The game is translated, with original Japanese audio but English translation for the UI and full English subtitles for all the dialogue. You can find the game page here. If you don't care about Steam and just want your porn ASAP, you're out of luck for the moment. VR Kanojo used to be available at Illusion's download shop, but currently sales are "suspended," possibly in relation to the Steam launch.

As of right now, VR Kanojo is for Windows PCs only. A word of warning — as the game's title indicates, VR Kanojo is for virtual reality headsets only, specifically HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Windows Mixed Reality. Moreover, ILLUSION's games tend to be graphically intensive, and VR Kanojo more so due to the extra requirements from VR. You'll want a big GPU, at least a GTX 970 or 1060, if you want to run this smoothly.
