OniMasyumaro has released a ryona fighting game, titled Nightmare, on DLsite for PC and Android.
Nightmare is a fighting game which aims to be less of a fighting game on its own and more of a delivery to watch the protagonist, Konomi Nakahara, get slaughtered repeatedly. Taking place in her nightmare, the player is tasked to guide this unfortunate girl out of her unending hell, though the real appeal is in watching her fail in that task. She will feel the pain of every death in this dream world as if it's happening for real. Unfortunately for her, dying causes her to come back completely unharmed and ready to be killed again. The only way for her to escape this hellish nightmare of endlessly recurring deaths is by defeating the man that's tormenting her.
The game features three different fights against an AI-controlled opponent. The combos that Konomi can use by mashing X will change for each fight. While the opponent is able to take quite a few hits, Konomi can be defeated with just one hit. Defeat will bring up a wheel of seven deaths to choose from, with each of the three fights having seven different deaths. Along with the death scene in the opening of the game, there is a total of 22 different scenes. The game's overview on DLsite is as follows:
A fighting game like ryona (cruelty / brutality) action game, where a girl is tragically murdered by a devilish man again and again.
The game itself is quite easy, as it takes only several minutes to get the last scene. However, if she were not harmed at all throughout the game you will get no ryona animations.
Mash the attack button to perform combination attacks. As you go on stages you will see different combination attacks. The bar in the upper side of the screen represents the enemy's health.Konomi Nakahara (heroine) does not have a health bar.
When Konomi is damaged a ryona animation is to be displayed. Since it takes place in her nightmare, death doesn't mean the end of ryona.
There are three stages (LEVEL). Brutality escalates with each stage. When you beat the enemy, you can choose either to go to the next or to end the game.
If you are interested in Nightmare, you can pick it up at DLsite for about $16.22 on PC and Android. Both versions also have a free demo that you can try out, which is limited to the first fight and only showcases some of the death scenes for it.
