Clean up for the next guy

[UPDATE] NSFW Artist Shädman's Website, Shadbase, Taken Down

The popular artist has since made a statement on YouTube and Twitter

The erotic artist known as Shädman has recently run into legal trouble in relation to the host of his website Shadbase.com.

Popular Western not-safe-for-work artist Shädman, known for his unapologetic, grungy and meticulously detailed parodies of games, cartoons, and real life people, has had his website Shadbase.com taken down by his own host.

[UPDATE 04/03/2017 8:45 AM EST] Shadbase.com has been brought back online following Shädman’s comment on the Shädman Steam Group.

In a YouTube stream video, which you can view in full below, Shädman has decided to shine some light on his current predicament and that status of his website Shadbase.com. In the 40-minute video, the creator explains his host has taken his website down for what he says was deemed “unacceptable content.” While he does not elaborate in detail what the content actually was, he hints at his multiple drawings of minors to have been the major problem for the server provider. Shädman then proceeds to explain the importance of his website to him on a personal level and how when it’s brought back up he does not want to compromise and censor his content. He goes on to say he is currently trying to get his content back from the host as part of negotiations.

During the same stream, the artist also asks his fans if they want to see a redesign of Shadbase.com while retaining his artistic integrity when the site eventually gets back online in a week or so, according to his unsure estimates. He also mentions how for personal and non-profit reasons he does not want to move his content to his Patreon account or any other of his social media accounts, with which he had trouble in the past, citing his Facebook profile currently being suspended and his Tumblr account not allowing the type of pornographic content he creates.

Lastly, the artist mentioned that with his current ongoing situation, the best way to reach updates on his status and content is to follow him directly on his Twitter account.

The artist later took to Twitter later on quoting a snippet of California (his current place of residence) state law regarding the depiction of minors in drawings, cartoons, sculptures and paintings and once again clarifying his stance on his own personal work and his legal right to create it.

While the artist cites California law to back up his argument, he does not explicitly state where his host keeps his website data. It is possible that the physical location of servers where the data Shadbase.com is stored is found in a state that deems the depiction of minors in drawings as illegal and that would be the root of his original problem. Whatever the case may be, we hope Shädman’s situation gets resolved in a timely manner and he can return to drawing what he know and loves best and what his fans grew to adore him for. We will keep you updated as the story goes on.
