Watch Dogs 2 Launches With Exposed Vagina, Ubisoft Promises Patch

A PlayStation 4 user, having acquired the newly released Watch Dogs 2, has managed to run into a fully exposed and detailed vagina on one of the female NPCs.

The user that discovered the aforementioned pussy has promptly made a thread on the NeoGAF forum explaining how his account got suspended by Sony for sharing “content of an adult or sexual nature”. One of the two e-mails, with the second extending his suspension to one month, he received from the SIEE moderation team can be read just below.

We’re writing to inform you that your Sony Entertainment Network account has been temporarily suspended.

We’ve made this decision based on your online activity in Live from PlayStation on 14-11-2016.

Content of an adult or sexual nature is against our Code of Conduct.

The suspension will last 1 week and will be lifted on 21-11-2016. You won’t be able to access online multiplayer, PlayStation Store and other network features until the suspension is over.

We take the decision to suspend an account very seriously, and we only do so after one of our moderators has carefully analysed the situation. PlayStation Support therefore cannot overturn this moderation decision.

We ask all our players to act decently, respectfully and with consideration for us and other players while using PlayStation Network. To make sure you understand the behaviour we expect from our community, please review the Code of Conduct here before returning to PlayStation Network. Please be aware that any further breaches of the Code of Conduct may result in a longer suspension or even a permanent ban.

Yours sincerely,

SIEE Moderation

The same person, using the Twitter handle @Swizzasaur, has also tweeted out the screenshot he initially shared on the PlayStation Network.

Luckily for Swizzasaur, his story had a happy ending: after several publications have covered the issue, his suspension was removed. Rightfully so, if I may add. Suspending someone for sharing screenshots from a game widely available on the platform is almost paradoxical in nature. Scenes of nudity and those of a sexual nature, even if not explicit, are quite common throughout Watch Dogs 2.  What falls under “content of an adult or sexual nature” is overly vague. Sony should promptly detail and tighten up their Code of Conduct, so that situations like this does not happen again affecting more games and console users wanting to share their finds on PSN.

Ubisoft itself has spoken to Polygon about the whole matter, issued an apology and promised to promptly remove the detailed vagina across all available platforms to make it more consistent with how other NPC models look like.

While Watch Dogs 2 is a mature-rated game, we apologize and will update this NPC model to make it more consistent with other NPC models in the game in a patch to be released this week. We also are working with our first-party partners to ensure that players can continue to play and share all content from the game within the bounds of the first parties’ respective codes of conduct.

We may still be a long way away from having AAA games sport explicit nudity and sex. Was the presence of the anatomically detailed vagina Ubisoft trying to push the envelope, or was it a huge oversight on the part of the developer and publisher? The company has not made a statement regarding how this piece of explicit art made its way into the game initially, so until some beans are spilled, we are left to ponder and assume.
