Visual novel developer and publisher Frontwing has released their title, Corona Blossom Vol.2 The Truth from Beyond, on Steam.
The game, which had a successful Indiegogo campaign that netted over $40,000, is a sequel to Corona Blossom Vol.1 Gift From the Galaxy. For those of you new to the Corona Blossom universe, you can find out more about the first installment of the series by checking out our previous coverage of the game here.
Much like the first volume, The Truth from Beyond utilizes the e-mote system — a visual system made popular and well-known thanks in part to the Nekopara series — and animated h-scenes to bring a sense of movement and life to the characters that inhabit the story. Vol.2 also features fully uncensored scenes, with Frontwing deciding to shed the mosiac censorship that was in Gift From the Galaxy.
For your reading pleasure, below you will find the game’s OP, synopsis, and sample CGs and screenshots.
R-ne: a cute, metallic lifeform who one day fell from space. Keiji Osaki: a young man with a hazy past, now working at a mech garage. After whiling away much of the summer together, the two of them make a promise: They’re going to return R-ne to her home planet. Their plans are interrupted, though, by another couple of new arrivals to Hanma Town: the headstrong space pirates (or “rare metal hunters”) Lily and Yunie. Will Keiji and his friends ever be able to return R-ne to space? And what will become of the group’s budding romances? The truth always emerges from the place you’d least expect…
“The Truth From Beyond” follows directly on the cliffhanger ending of the first game, which saw the villainous space pirate Lily preparing to take main heroine R-ne hostage. The game features both lighthearted comedic scenes as well as more dramatic storytelling and action sequences, delving into the backstory of both R-ne and the main protagonist Keiji. It also makes use of the e-mote system to bring an unprecedented lifelike quality to the characters.
