Liar-soft and Silky's Plus Collaborate on New Visual Novel "Shinsou Noise"

Liar-soft and Silky’s Plus begin work on their new unique collaboration game, called Shinsou Noise ~Junshin Tantei no Jikenbo~, under a new brand by the name of Azurite.

We learned via Dengeki Hime that the popular visual novel producers Liar-soft and Silky’s Plus have announced a new collaborative visual novel production under Azurite, a new brand. Shinsou Noise ~Junshin Tantei no Jikenbo~is imagined as a thriller mystery story centered around the protagonist Tachibana Kazuma, who possesses a psychic power allowing him to know what other people are thinking. To find out more about the game and the staff working on it, be sure to read our translation of the Dengeki Hime article.

The protagonist, Tachibana Kazuma, has just enrolled in Shizunomiya Academy as a new student. Since birth, he’s had the ability to see the images of what other people are thinking. Being able to understand someone else’s innermost thoughts may sound impressive, but in reality, it’s an incomplete power that can’t detect whose thoughts are coming from who, and if multiple people are around him, he gets the signals all mixed up. Despite being tossed around by this power, Shizuma manages to lead a peaceful school life. One day, however, a theft occurs in the girls’ locker room. This is the first incident involving the man who would later be known as the “Reception Detective”, Tachibana Shizuma.

The first game from the new brand Azurite, Shinsou Noise ~Junshin Tantei no Jikenbo~, is a collaboration between Liar-soft and Silky’s Plus. Azurite will be a brand that releases games with an emphasis on mystery and suspense under the DiGination brand, managed by DMM.com.

The character design and CGs will be done by Hamashima Shigeo, who previously worked on Maggot Baits. The planning and scenario design will be done by Unabara Nozomu of Liar-soft, who worked on Fairytale Requiem Production, while graphics will be handled by the Silky’s Plus team that worked on Akeiro Kaikitan. All the talent involved will surely make for a strong mystery/suspense work.

In this game, the protagonist, Shizuma, who can hear other people’s thoughts in a very cold, flat voice, will be the main focus of the story. In the Shizunomiya Academy he attends, he’ll have to team up with the “Action Group” in order to deal with the events in school. For someone like him, who can hear other people’s thoughts, it’s not a good pairing. Since he can hear other people’s thoughts, anyone that thinks something other than what they’re really saying is like an open book to him. Due to this ability granting him to get an involuntary showing of people’s innermost thoughts, he’s developed a certain amount of distrust for other people. Asking him to act in a group all of a sudden is simply too much.

As if that weren’t bad enough, the group is decided mercilessly by “drawing lots.” As a result, he has to team up with the taciturn and cold class president, Yukimoto Sakura, along with a bunch of other very unique members inside this “Action Group.” Since Sakura doesn’t interact much with others, and is very uninterested in everything she does, nobody knows much about her. This leads to some nasty false rumors about her, such as her engaging in prostitution and torturing animals.

However, upon looking into her innermost thoughts, Shizuma sees that she’s even weirder than the rumor of her going up to the roof every day to imagine her dead body falling off it suggested. All the heroines in this game have more than a few quirks about them. How will Shizuma’s ability to read people’s thoughts affect his school life? And more importantly, what incidents will be awaiting the “Reception Detective” at this school?

No news on an English release is yet known, but considering Liar-soft’s past partnership with Western publisher MangaGamer, it’s not off the table that we might see this title in their crosshairs.
