Japan’s first adult virtual reality festival, dubbed Adult VR Fest 01, has taken place in Tokyo’s Akihabara district on the 12th of June. A few lucky people who managed to attend the event have now shared their thoughts online.
June 12th marked the start of Japan’s first ever Adult Virtual Reality Festival at Tokyo’s Akihabara, showcasing various virtual reality enhancing devices and pieces of technology to simulate sexual relations. You may have already seen some of these devices in action if you ever glanced at our Twitter account, while others are new even to us. Since Adult VR Fest 01 took place at a rather small venue, only a few people at a time got to experience what the adult gaming market had in store for those wishing for intimacy of a different kind. Japanese blogger going by the handle of Eizo0000 was sadly one of those many people that didn’t manage get into the event building before the event got cancelled due to overcrowding. He did, however, carry out a series of thorough interviews with the people that were there and managed to get the skinny on some of the miracles going on inside.
For your reading pleasure, we have translated Eizo0000’s heartfelt blog post detailing the event and as well his own perspective on the importance of virtual reality and its uses for adult content. Mixed in you can also find videos of the lucky attendees that managed to get a hands-on experience with some of the event’s devices and tech.
When I went to the Adult VRFest:
In recent times, the growth of technology has exploded. That tech has made a great impact on the quality of our lives, whether it’s from a peaceful or convenience-based standpoint. Technology isn’t just the latest and greatest new gadget, however. Take, for instance, the timeframe between waking up to go work and going back home to sleep. During this period, you have many pieces of tech helping you through your day.
You check your social network sites, use your coffee maker to make some hot coffee, look at the TV to see what’s going on, get in a modern shower to clean up for the day, make your way to the train station, use your electronic ID pass (suica) to pay for and board the train, then arrive at work quickly. After work, you feel like having a drink, but you don’t have much money. So you go to a cheap food place and use touch screens on the table to order a drink and some cheap food. After that, you have nothing to do once you go home, so you fiddle around on your smartphone, playing the latest game or messing around with the newest app until late at night. Finally, when you do go to sleep, you set your phone’s alarm to wake you up to repeat this saga.
Any way you look at it, technology has increased our quality of life greatly, and has benefited us just as much. In today’s ever-evolving technological world, new tech comes out every day, and similar tech fight for the right to survive. Once such tech that might be worth keeping an eye on right now is VR.
What is VR?
VR stand for “Virtual Reality”, and is usually explained as being the ability to experience something fictional as if it were real life. To put it simply, it’s a fantasy that seems as if it’s really there. Right now, there’s a product called Oculus Rift, which is a headset that lets you experience whatever is in there in a full, 360 degree, realistic setting. When you move, the world moves as well. It almost feels alive.
In Odaiba right now, there’s an attraction called the VR ZONE that allows people to experience various VR-related things. In other words, VR cuts you off from the real world and plants you into a fantasy one that seems just as real. It’s a relatively new tech, so various companies are trying to produce new things for VR. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities. For example, there are several games at VR ZONE, but there are also things like a world that allows you to connect to the internet more than ever before, making the Earth more unified. It’s almost as if you pass through the screen into the internet itself. In addition to this, once more tech is developed that allows you to physically interact with objects in this virtual world, rather than just seeing, all they’ll need to add is the ability to smell as well, and you’ll be able to bask all five senses in a completely new world. So, when you hear this, what do you think most people want to do with it? It’s simple, really.
Adult content
No mincing words: it’s adult content, something very influential in this industry. Some people might not understand why that is, but it’s really simple. It’s because so many people want it to happen. Have you ever watched an adult video before? Not necessarily a VHS, but a DVD, blu-ray, streaming video, or even a downloaded video? We used to watch these things on old CRT monitors, but nowadays we’ve progressed a great deal on how detailed our monitors are. They still have one problem, though: whether you’re using an old CRT or a new LCD, it they’re still screens at the end of the day. Nothing more than walls separating you from the content. If only those walls weren’t erected , you could almost be included in the action. That’s the current reality of adult videos.
What about VR, then? It’s in all directions, 360 degrees. It’s not so much a screen as it is a world. VR is a fantasy world. Adult worlds can be included in that. Permeate your own experiences there. That’s what adult VR is all about, and now we have an Adult VR Event happening in Akihabara for that very thing.
Enter the Adult VR Fest in Akiba:
“A First in Japan! An Event for Experiencing Adult VR! “Adult VR Fest 01″ is Open Now!” is how the event is being listed. It can’t be helped. In this shitty world, the one ray of light we have left is adult VR, and this will become an event to make that clear. As everyone walks through the newly reopened Hakouhsa Tengoku street in Akiba, you can really tell the city is overflowing with life today.
The event didn’t start until 2 PM, so I went there in high spirits an hour before then, but the city was already overflowing with people. There were so many that it was almost impossible to keep the situation under control. While waiting for my friends, I couldn’t help but think that if they couldn’t control the mass of people, a riot or something similar could happen. The 20 lucky guys closest to the building were let in by the staff. I’m sure there was a line inside the building that rivaled the one outside.
Outside the building for the Adult VR Fest, the unofficial waiting outside the building spans both sides, so it was a real hell here.
These people are the people putting their lives on the line for Adult VR. They don’t like this world, and they know women don’t see them in a good light. They have their own needs that have yet to be fulfilled, but they don’t want to bother anyone with them. Thus, they turn to a new world. Honestly, they’re wonderful people hoping for a brave new world, and they’ll finally have one soon enough. There were plenty of problems while waiting to get in, but none of these patient gentlemen voiced any complaints. They simply waited silently to be let in. It was about 20 minutes after opening time when their leader appeared.
The future for Adult VR looks bright:
The Adult VR Fest was put on hold. Because of the disorder I mentioned before, the cops got involved and started scolding everyone about something or other. Despite this setback, the future looks bright. With tears in their eyes, the staff all said “We’re very sorry! We’ll be closing down today; however, next time we’ll definitely open up in a larder building to accommodate all the people!” It wouldn’t have been surprising at all for a riot to break out after that, but instead, everyone gave the workers massive applause.

It wasn’t a total loss, however. The lucky 20 that were taken in first were actually able to get some info about the experience. After about 2 hours of interviewing, I was able to get this info out of them:

I don’t need to explain this, do I? These are the people that experienced the VR. The Adult VR world is more than a mere machine, I’m certain. Being able to see it up close like that must have been wonderful.
Machine that makes you feel passing wind as if it were a tit:
I’m sure you’ve often heard about how some people like to stick their hands out the window of a car because the wind pressure feels a bit like a boob. Well, this is an evolved version of that experience.
It’s covered by a box. Inside is a high-tech piece of equipment. Apparently the equipment even moves around.
Adult VR Simple Version:
Honestly, not sure what this is. We can only hope to try it ourselves in the future at some point!
Somehow, a girl?
For those of you that were worried that there would be nothing but sweaty old guys here, that apparently wasn’t the case.
Some Sort of Machine:
A machine. I won’t speculate, as that would be rude, but I think we all know what purpose this serves. Predictably, the machine moves up and down repeatedly.
VR + Ab Roller Machine:
This is a muscle training machine. It works like a normal ab roller, but with VR added to spice it up with various situations. An adult stomach workout, if you will. You’ll work up a sweat while you’re stimulated. Fitness and sexuality sure is a wonderful combo.
Touching Machine:
Why is he reaching out like that? Well, apparently the head portion of the VR experienced managed to make his hand virtual as well, allowing him to touch things in the VR world. This will cause the girl he’s with to act in various ways, depending on his actions. I’m not sure how far experience this goes, but if the hand can grope and it feels real, this is now the new world. This is The Only World.
