Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Will Have English Subtitles For its Asian Release

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, the much anticipated laid-back sports game, has just announced that it will include multiple language subtitles in its Asian release. These languages will include English, Chinese and Japanese.

Remember we told you about about how Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 could come to the West if the demand is there? Well, it isn’t. At least not yet, but news announced today on Play-Asia has given us a step in the right direction. The announcement states that the latest game in the franchise will include multiple language choices for the Asian region, which, as it stands is the only region available. One of those choices is English, and while they state that the voiced portion will remain firmly in Japanese, importers can rejoice at the news.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 will be releasing with subtitles in multiple languages (Chinese, English, Japanese) for the Asia region, without additional censorship. Voices will remain in Japanese. Multi-language options are available for the PS4 and PS Vita, as well as Collector’s Editions.

What’s interesting about this is the word choice, in that Koei Tecmo qualified their statement by giving a specific region. Of course, this may just be to avoid any confusion, but usually when such a thing occurs it’s due to there being multiple region releases. Don’t forget the Dead or Alive Xtreme series has always come to the EU and NA regions before, so time will tell. While no other region has been announced to receive the game, according to Koei Tecmo, if there is to be a Western release there’s likely to be “adjustments”. What kind of adjustments those could be aren’t known, but that type of statement usually means some form of censoring, which we’re pretty used to by now.

For other news on the Xtreme series, we’ve had pretty extensive coverage since its announcement. If you would rather import the Asian version of the game, you’ve now got a pretty good reason to go for it. With English subtitles and the promise of no changes, it’s likely to be the best of both worlds for fans of the series. You can find all the games right now on Play-Asia, for not much more than you would expect to see them in stores. The two versions of the game will work on every system, since neither PlayStation system is region locked, and they’ll ship worldwide. You can out the latest trailer below, and stay tuned right here for more news as it happens.
