The first gameplay trailer of Utawarerumono: The False Mask has just been released by AQUAPLUS.
The YouTube trailer to the sequel of 2002 strategy RPG and eroge visual novel Utawarerumono showcases some of the games combat and visual novel sections and briefly introduces some of the game’s main cast of characters. You can view the full preview video below.
The first Utawarerumono game only boasted 2D sprite graphics so seeing smooth and detailed animations of cute looking super deformed characters is a welcome change and a huge improvement on the predecessor. The art and voice acting in the visual novel sections also seem to be up the first game’s standards.
As Utawarerumono: The False Mask is set to premiere on the 24th of Septemeber of this year in Japan on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, we can already safely say the game will not feature any explicit sexual content. That does not however discount the possibility of the game having ecchi events and scenes in it. We still hope that a Western publisher takes an interest in AQUAPLUS’ newest title and brings it overseas in localized form.
We have also previously reported that a third Utawarerumono title is in development, but so far there has not been any additional information released to the public about it. We will, of course, keep you informed in case it surfaces.
